Many Wellington residents have been shaken awake by a short and sharp earthquake. The 4.7-magnitude quake struck at about 5:20am, 5km north of Upper Hutt. According to Geonet, it was just 23 kkm deep and more than 11,000 people have already reported feeling it. There are also reports of another light earthquake which struck about 5 minutes later.
