For the life of me, I fail to understand how such a blowhard as Walt Amses gets to do it over and over again weeks, months and on and on. Mr. Amses, I fail to see how you can be such an oblivion to reality. Queensland Premier Steven Miles’ un-modelled election pledge to open government-owned petrol stations was slammed by economists and the industry as an intervention that would do the opposite of his stated intention and push up the cost of driving. The Labor leader’s latest cost-of-living pitch to voters for the October 26 election includes a cap on fuel prices by legislating a ban on petrol stations raising them more than once a day and flagging any price change a day in advance.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan said the failure to provide a working email address for people who wanted to give information to a government inquiry into allegations of illegality involving the CFMEU was a “technical issue” that had been fixed. Ms Allan’s rejection of criticism that the Labor-commissioned review of the CFMEU’s Victorian branch may have been set up to fail came as the union’s Queensland branch appeared to quash hopes it would consent to being placed into administration.

This is really sad. I spoke to Mary-Louise regularly during the pandemic and she was always incredibly insightful and generous with her expertise. She was also genuinely compassionate and empathetic.
