There are three first-teamers in the greater Rochester area, Aquinas defensive lineman Quante Gillians in Class AA, Monroe wide receiver Messiah Hampton and Monroe defensive lineman Anthony Omebe in Class A.

There were 20 2024 Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester wrestlers expected to return to their teams this winter when the high school wrestling season in Section V began in November. Seventeen of those standouts were in action during the first dual meets and tournaments. Two more returned to the mats for the first time this season this month. One wrestler won't make it back for his senior year season.

Brighton will play Sweet Home in the regional round of the New York State football playoffs. Sweet Home senior Rocco Panepinto has 34 touchdown passes (versus four interceptions) and 2,292 passing yards after 11 games. On third down or any other short yardage situation, the Panthers can turn to Daquan Stone (15 touchdowns), a senior listed at 6 feet-2 inches and 226 pounds.
