New York's all-state teams for small schools were released on Monday. Compiled by the New York State Sportswriters Association, the small school list includes four first-teamers from Section V and 28 picks overall. The large school teams (Class AAA, AA, A) are expected on Thursday.

    Section V boys lacrosse season is over a month old, and some of the region's standout players are delivering for their respective teams. After the season, Democrat and Chronicle and Daily Messenger staffs will consult local coaches to determine post-season honors and recognize a top player. Though the season has only reached the midway point, it's not too early to predict who'll be recognized as the best of the best.
