    Pittsford Sutherland softball stars Cara Orlando and Gabby Lyons each hit grand slams during the Knights' spring break season opener Tuesday in Clermont, Florida. Orlando and Lyons combined for 10 RBIs in Sutherland's 18-2 win over Staten Island's Curtis (Public School Athletics League) at the PFX softball fields. Orlando, a freshman outfielder, recorded her grand slam in the bottom of the first inning. Lyons, a junior shortstop, sent her grand slam over the fence in the fourth.

    Wellsville's first-year softball coach Gia George handed junior Brynn Hallock her first career home run ball under the lights at Honeoye Falls-Lima. Players from Wellsville's reigning state champion softball team screamed when Hallock hit a solo homer in Game 1 of a double header at HF-L. Hallock previously starred on junior varsity under George, who won her first two career games by sweeping HF-L with 5-1 and 13-1 wins.

    Wellsville softball star Makenna Dunbar had a memorable game on both sides of the plate last week. A senior pitcher, Dunbar threw a perfect game and hit a home run during Wellsville's 18-0 win at Hornell on Tuesday, April 9. The Lions improved to 4-0 following last week's road win. They've won 27 straight. Dunbar opened this spring with similar results during a double header at Honeoye Falls-Lima on April 3. She tossed a no-hitter in Game 1 then connected on a two-run homer in Game 2.
