The city council made restrictions on putting mobile homes onto properties, which Mayor Wayne Labbe said should be consistent. Former Valley Grande councilman Lamar Morgan suggested $5,000 permits would be effective. The city council approved extending the bid for two weeks, but they would reserve the right to refuse bids.

City Councilman Clay Carmichael proposed a city manager style of government, reducing it to five or six districts. Councilman Sam Randolph questioned the motive of Carmichael’s proposal and disagreed. The City of Selma is split into eight wards.

Stough’s connection to DYW began during the early 1980’s when it was known as Dallas County Junior Miss. Stough won Dallas County Junior Miss in 1983, Her daughter, Megan Stough Johnson, won Dallas County Junior Miss in 2007. “I have been involved in this program for over 40 years,” Stough said.

Published 9:29 pm Friday, August 9, 2024 A Plantersville man is wanted by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for stealing copper in the community. According to DCSO, Durall Laister, 35, of Plantersville, is a suspect cutting down live phone lines for stealing the copper wiring and aluminum casing. Monica Morris, 51, of Chilton County, was arrested on August 8 in Dallas County and charged with stealing the copper wiring and aluminum casing and telephone lines.
