WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) – During Invasive Species Action Month, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) encourages residents to take steps to prevent the spread of invasive species. State law prohibits the transportation or introduction of certain invasive species without a permit in an effort to protect native species from harmful effects, including depopulation. Residents who identify invasive plants or insects should report them to DNR officials.

WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) – A proposal for an earlier trout season has gained tremendous support, officials say. Following the Wisconsin Conservation Congress and Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) annual spring hearing, in which over 9,000 residents provided their input, representatives from the hearing said there was a significant desire to begin trout season earlier in the spring.

MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) will serve over three million meals to kids this summer through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). A news release from the Wisconsin DPI describes the SFSP as an initiative that provides healthy, free meals to children and teens in low-income areas. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and it’s an extension of the National School Lunch Program.

GREEN BAY, Wis (WGBW) – There is some good news for Cellcom customers following that nearly 2-week voice and text outage in May. The company announced last week that it will adjust users’ invoices to compensate for the outage. The adjustment will automatically appear on the July bills, and no action will be required from the consumers. Eligible customers will also be able to activate a “Double the Downtime” offer to receive a second bill adjustment.
