Stratton-Morris, who joined Caffè Nero as its first externally appointed CEO in October 2017, also stepped down from the UK board as of 31 May. Government to offer hospitality businesses free energy and carbon cutting advice to help slash bills

Part of the Government’s Plan for Change, the initiative will offer more than 600 small and medium sized hospitality businesses free energy and carbon reduction assessments, delivered by Zero Carbon Services, to ‘cut energy costs, support productivity and boost growth’. The scheme will support operators to make cost effective changes such as fixing insulation gaps, upgrading to low energy lighting or tweaking heating settings.

Saxton confirmed his departure from the high-end department store in a LinkedIn post, adding that he would be sharing information about his ‘next adventure’ in the near future. During his time at Harrods, Saxton opened more than 36 restaurants in store and around the world. “We have taken Harrods from an unknown restaurant entity to the biggest single site F&B operation in Europe, [and] housed more culinary names than any other destination across the continent,” he said.

It is the Tracker’s second negative number of 2025 and the fifth consecutive month of below-inflation growth. The marginal decline is in line with the separate CGA RSM Hospitality Business Tracker, which recorded a year-on-year drop of 0.9% in managed restaurant groups’ total sales in April, but 9.1% growth for pubs as warm weather encouraged consumers into beer gardens and terraces.
