    A 50-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with two robberies and an attempted robbery in Grangemouth. The first incident happened at 9.40am on Saturday, May 31, when a 73-year-old woman was robbed of her money by a man at a cash machine on Dock Street. Thankfully a member of the public intervened and the money was recovered.

    Unite the union claims the oil and gas industry in Scotland is being hit by an “avalanche” of job losses as hundreds of Grangemouth-based contractors face unemployment in the coming weeks. The trade union highlighted over 140 jobs with the contractor Altrad – which had provided operational support to the Petroineos oil refinery in Grangemouth – face losing their job at the end of June.

Steven Mathew, 54, the current president of Grangemouth Children’s Day committee will be making history at around 3pm on Saturday, June 21 when he becomes the first ever man in over 100 years to crown a Children’s Day queen.

    A team of Stagecoach employees took the high road to climb the world famous Kelpies for charity. The transport firm is supporting Age UK’s “Act Now, Age Better” campaign, which encourages people to stay active today, to enjoy better health and wellbeing tomorrow. Four members of staff certainly got active on Friday, May 30 when they took part in the Kelpies Experience, climbing up the inside of the iconic equine sculptures to coin in £1290 for Age UK.
