Dorcha with her chick (Image: Woodland Trust) The first osprey chick of the season hatched in Lochaber over the weekend. Woodland Trust Scotland has been operating a live nest camera at Loch Arkaig Pine Forest in Lochaber, with Osprey dad Lous in residence every summer since 2017. He first mated with Aila until 2020 and with his second, Dorcha, since then. Now the first chick of the season has hatched with the first breach of the eggshell coming at 5.20am on Saturdya morning.

One of the three was airlifted to hospital (Image: Dunbar RNLI) A family of three needed rescued by RNLI volunteers after being caught in a rip current running out to sea. The 36-year-old man, 38-year-old woman and 12-year-old child were all rescued and brought back to the beach before being transported for medical treatment. The incident happened around 2.40pm at Tyninghame Beach in East Lothian.

Trains and stations were full (Image: Newsquest) Edinburgh Marathon runners who were making their way to the capital to take part have been left frustrated after being refused entry to ScotRail trains. Early morning services between Glasgow and Edinburgh were so full that some looking to get on at stations along the way were told they were not allowed on board.
