WETHERSFIELD - The Raising Cane's restaurant at 1298 Silas Deane Highway is expected to open June 24, according to police. A Raising Cane's employee verified the opening date Tuesday. Police cautioned the public to expect heavy traffic on opening day, with the worst expected between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.Traffic will likely be backed up northbound on the Silas Deane Highway between Executive Square and Town Line Road, and could last approximately two weeks, police said.

Meriden cafeteria manager gets national honor MERIDEN - Debbie Lehne, cafeteria manager for Hanover Elementary School, was named the National Manager of the Year by the School Nutrition Association. The award was presented virtually April 30 in advance of School Lunch Hero Day on May 2, which honors all school nutrition professionals. The association said Lehne was chosen for her commitment to meeting the needs of the 500 students she serves daily.

Garden Club to host annual May Market The North Haven Garden Club's annual May Market will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, at the Mildred Wakeley Recreation Center, 7 Linsley St. The plant sale will feature perennials - most hand-dug from members' gardens that attract bees, butterflies and birds. The sale will also feature herbs, vegetable and tomato plants, annuals, geraniums and an array of flowering hanging baskets.

GLASTONBURY - The owners of a Wethersfield gelato shop will open another location in Glastonbury after gaining unanimous approval from the Town Plan and Zoning Commission. Larissa Lake and Antonio Lenoci plan to open Noci Gelato at 2235 Main St., the former home of Gotta Have It Boutique, which relocated to 419 New London Turnpike. "We just wanted to bring it to our hometown," Lake said at the Plan and Zoning Commission meeting Tuesday.
