    BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — For a third time, Cameron County residents will have the opportunity to vote for or against the development of a new multi-use arena. The proposition will be listed as Proposition A on the May 3 election. It’s been voted on twice before. Back in November 2021, it missed approval by 67 votes. Cameron County officials pushed for it again in May 2022, but it ultimately lost by 200 votes.

    MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — It’s been a busy week for mechanic shops, which are seeing many customers come in with flood-damaged cars needing repairs. At Cris Auto Service in McAllen, a line of cars is still waiting to be worked on. The flooding that swept the Rio Grande Valley happened nearly two weeks ago. Many cars suffered flood damage after being stalled on the side of the road and abandoned.

Cano Freshman Academy said.

    SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — One week after Valley-wide severe flooding, San Benito resident Richard Gonzalez is spending his days cleaning the water from his home. He said it’s been a tiresome few days. At almost 70 years old, he’s lived in his house on South Bonham Street nearly all his life, and he’s always left to pick up the pieces when floodwater seeps in. “It’s been very stressful for me alone here knowing what happened to my home … no words,” Gonzalez said.

    DONNA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Last week’s historic rainfall has left many farmers dealing with damaged crops and thousands in lost revenue. Nicholas Billman, the owner of Red River Farms in Donna, said his produce was just about a week away from being ready to harvest when it was all destroyed in last week’s floods. “As a farmer, we gamble. We’re faithful but we gamble,” Billman said.
