    A 44-year-old woman has died and a man has been arrested after a stabbing Friday night in Santa Maria. At approximately 10:50 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the 1700 block of Rio Vista for a report of a possible stabbing, Lt. Paul Van Meel of the Santa Maria Police Department Detective Bureau said. Officers located a woman with multiple injuries at the scene.

    After a several-day delay, a Falcon 9 rocket placed 26 Starlink satellites in orbit after lifting off Friday afternoon from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The two-stage rocket built by SpaceX blasted off at 5:19 p.m. from Space Launch Complex-4 on the South Base. About eight minutes later, the first-stage booster successfully landed on the droneship in the Pacific Ocean. More than one hour after liftoff, SpaceX confirmed that the 26 Starlink satellites had been deployed.

    Annexing an Orcutt site into the city of Santa Maria would create a peninsula and a host of other problems, a top Santa Barbara County staff member said Thursday. The Santa Barbara County Local Agency Formation Commission, known as LAFCO, held a workshop that spanned more than three hours on the Richards Ranch annexation plan. Richards Ranch developer Michael Stoltey applied to build residences and businesses on 44 acres south and north of Union Valley Parkway, east of Highway 135.
