    A barricaded subject ended up in custody after Lompoc police initially were alerted to a domestic dispute. Officers responded to the incident involving a male and a female at an apartment complex in the 400 block of West North Avenue, Sgt. Scott Morgan said. Callers told police that a female was yelling for help and that male had threatened he was armed, Morgan added. Police found the female, but the man fled into an apartment.

    I woke up from a dream and realized it was actually a memory of gunboats coming at us just outside of Santa Barbara Harbor. This definitely added something wild to a charter fishing trip. It can be a bit disconcerting to watch an inflatable gunboat barreling down on us with a massive machine gun mounted on the bow. Especially a gun that could probably cut my boat in half, like a giant chainsaw, in about three seconds flat.

    Two people were wounded in stabbings Tuesday afternoon in Santa Maria. Personnel from the Santa Maria Police and Fire departments along with American Medical Response were dispatched to the incident in the 200 block of North Western Avenue at approximately 2:30 p.m.Emergency crews found one patient in the front yard and a second patient inside the residence. Members of the Detective Bureau responded to the scene to begin investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

    A bear took a stroll around Orcutt Tuesday morning before getting a free trip out of town. “Officers from the California Highway Patrol Santa Maria area had an unexpected visitor reported all over town — a bear on a bit of a walkabout,” California Highway Patrol officers based in Santa Maria-based said in a social media post complete with bear emojis and hashtags such as #BearlyMadeItHome. The bear’s trek took it to a few neighborhoods before being located near Benji Lane and Ruby Crest Court.
