Grace Douglas, who plays for Ashington Rugby Club’s u14 girls, has been selected to represent England u15s in touch rugby at the prestigious Atlantic Youth Touch Cup, which is taking place this summer in Ireland. Her selection is a testament to her dedication and passion for the sport.

A karate club with bases in Blyth and Cramlington has been recognised for its valuable service to the community at an annual awards ceremony. Kokoro Shotokan Karate Club attended the High Sheriff of Northumberland Awards ceremony at Alnwick Playhouse, where the club was awarded with a certificate for great and valuable services to the community, along with a grant of £1,250 to help with the costs of club members entering local, regional and national championships over the next year.

Women golfers at Alnmouth Village Golf Club have been raising money for charity as they walked the fairways. Over the past year, the ladies at Alnmouth Village Golf Club have been raising funds for the Ladies Captain’s chosen charity, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. They have managed to raise more than £1,000 and invited Sylvia Fancy from the charity to the club to present her with the proceeds of their fundraising activities.

Three youngsters from a karate club which has bases in Blyth and Cramlington took part in a youth championships at the weekend. On Saturday, Jay Crosby, Emelia Walker and Finlay Stubbs from Kokoro Karate Club travelled to Liverpool to represent the club in the KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain) City of Liverpool Youth Championships. There were more than 160 competitors in attendance from clubs across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

A member of Berwick’s TF Fitness Centre has been crowned European Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion. Competing at the European Jiu-Jitsu IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) Championships in Lisbon, Portugal, Adrian Kadziela took part in the Blue Belt Master 2 category. After four tough matches, he was named the European champion in the heavyweight category. Adrian has trained at the centre for 11 years, and a few years ago dedicated himself to jiu-jitsu.
