    With Kyle Kuzma missing significant time due to a rib injury, the Washington Wizards are trying to trade him, per Marc Stein. Amid the rebuild, the Wizards are looking to get value before the 2025 NBA Draft. Last season, Kuzma could have been traded to the Dallas Mavericks before the 2024 trade deadline, but he wanted to stay with Washington and rejected the idea of being traded. Kuzma, now 29, does not ideally fit with the young core the Wizards are building.

    Justin Champagnie wasn’t a rotation player early on in his young career. With all the injuries dealt to the Wizards this season, though, the third-year forward out of Pitt has been cast into the rotation. In the four games he has started, he has averaged 16.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.8 steals. Still only 23 years old, he can become a rotational piece for this young team that’s looking to figure out what their future looks like.

The plan of player development and building through the draft can be a long and frustrating one. Jordan Poole has notably stepped up as a vocal leader through this rebuild process. After the Wizards’ loss to the Clippers on Friday night, Josh Robbins of the Athletic asked Poole how the vets keep the young players motivated to learn and grow.

    (STORY FROM THE ATHLETIC.)Fernando Valenzuela, the Mexican southpaw who became an icon in Los Angeles during his rookie season with the Los Angeles Dodgers and remained a vibrant part of the franchise’s fabric for the next four decades, died Tuesday, the Dodgers confirmed. He was 63. Valenzuela recently stepped away from his job as the Dodgers’ longtime Spanish broadcaster in order to “focus on his health.”The Los Angeles Dodgers mourn the passing of legendary pitcher Fernando Valenzuela.
