    ANSONIA – Here is the latest on the proposed Ansonia budget, which is scheduled to go to referendum 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9 at the Ansonia Armory, 5 State St.The proposed mill rate is 29.5 mills, according to the budget posted on the city website and confirmed by corporation counsel John Marini. The 29.5 mill rate is slightly more than the 29.3 mill rate discussed at an Aldermen meeting May 5. Budget director Kurt Miller said the 29.3 mill rate was wrong due to a mathematical error.

    ANSONIA — Members of the Ansonia Board of Aldermen May 5 voted to trim the city’s proposed budget by some $173,000 and to leave the school budget untouched. A referendum on the two budgets is scheduled for 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9 at the Ansonia Armory, 5 State St.Voters previously rejected both budgets at a referendum on April 25. The current budget year is 2024 – 2025, which ends June 30. The proposed budgets cover the 2025 – 2026 fiscal year, which starts July 1.

    ANSONIA – Mayor David Cassetti’s administration plans to lease out two lots at the former SHW site on 35 N. Main St. this year. The city’s planning & zoning commission made a positive 8 – 24 referral for the property during its meeting March 31. The city put out a request for proposals for the property April 4. You can read that request for proposals here. The blighted, 3.58-acre property on 35 N.
