    SAN JOSE - A woman whose dismembered remains were found in a San Jose field in 1981 has finally been identified. On Tuesday, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office said its cold case unit used genealogy to identify the woman as Vivian Moss, who was 54 at the time of her murder. The cold case unit and Moss' family are hoping the identification will lead them to the woman's killer. "Our job is only half done," said Deputy District Attorney and cold case unit supervisor Rob Baker.

    HAYWARD - A speeding driver was killed in a crash Tuesday morning near the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge toll plaza, according to authorities. The collision happened around 7:10 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said in a news release. A Toyota RAV4 was traveling eastbound on State Route 92 at a "high rate of speed" when it entered the California Department of Transportation parking lot next to the toll plaza and crashed into several parked vehicles, according to the CHP.

    OAKLAND - The family of a bystander who died during an unauthorized police chase three years ago in Oakland can move forward with a civil rights lawsuit against the officers behind the pursuit, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decided Friday. Lolomania "Lolo" Soakai, 28, of Hayward, was killed on June 26, 2022, when Arnold Linaldi crashed into him as he waited at a taco truck on International Boulevard.

    PORTOLA VALLEY - The hunt for a woman who went missing in the Windy Hill Open Space Preserve more than two weeks ago will continue this weekend with nearly 100 search and rescue personnel set to join the effort, according to authorities. Margaret "Elaine" McKinley, 79, of Redwood City, was first reported missing on May 1 after hiking along the Lost Trail.
