On September 18 and 19, the movers and shakers of the lift industry came together at the Kettering Park Hotel & Spa in Northamptonshire, U.K. for the 15th annual meeting of the Symposium on Lift and Escalator Technologies to put forward and present their academic papers on ideas and solutions to help the vertical-transportation (VT) industry on its constant evolution of new technology.

Final preparations for the first edition of The Elevator Show (TES) Dubai are underway as we go to print. To be held on September 16-18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, TES is years in the making, having been in the works since before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Fortunately, interest in the trade show has only grown over time, and we are pleased to be welcoming more than 100 exhibitors from over 14 countries throughout the Middle East, Europe, Asia and North America.

Samu Salmelin, KONE’s Head of Major Projects in Great Britain, joined the company in Finland 26 years ago after writing his master’s thesis in industrial management, combining environmental management and industrial R&D. He started his career as a design environment engineer and has since held many different roles in R&D and sales, conceptual development, digital R&D and business development, both for the Finnish market and globally. Samu has been based in London since August 2023.
