Kelley Arlt and Shawn Holmes share two passions that aren't usually connected: theater performance and volleyball. However, an upcoming fundraiser in a local tavern celebrates their love for both. Skylight Volleyball Fundraiser is an all-day volleyball tournament and social event at Fat Daddy's, 120 W. National Ave., that will raise money for Milwaukee's beloved Skylight Music Theatre. The fundraiser is set for Saturday, June 14. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the tournament starts at noon.

It's time to locate your muffin tins, Milwaukee. (More on this later if you're a newbie.) WMSE 91.7 is cranking up the heat with its 23rd annual Rockabilly Chili fundraiser. WMSE’s Rockabilly Chili takes place Sunday, March 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the MSOE Kern Center, 1245 N. Broadway. This is Wisconsin’s largest restaurant chili cookoff event featuring 40 different chilis from local restaurants, cafes and caterers.

Flourchild Pizza is lending a hand to some friends and fellow business-owners in need with its limited-edition 1840 Style Pizza. The special pizza was created to help raise money for Stephanie and Kyle Vetter, owners of 1840 Brewing. In November, the Vetters shared that Steph was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer and unable to work during treatment.

Thirteen teams of Milwaukee-area architecture, engineering and construction folks are taking part in this year's Canstruction event during which each designs and builds a sculpture made entirely of canned and non-perishable food to help raise awareness about hunger. The sculptures are being assembled at Milwaukee Public Museum, where you can see them from Feb.
