For the most up-to-date information about the fire you can check:A brush fire that broke out overnight Wednesday had grown to 220 acres Thursday morning, prompting evacuation orders for residents in the Digier Canyon and Lebec areas. The Fort Fire was just 5% contained as water-dropping aircraft worked the scene. Kern County fire officials said additional aircraft in the form of retardant-dropping air tankers arrived Thursday morning.

Why now: The court filing on Thursday came on the same day Williams was charged with making threats regarding fire and explosives, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. The backstory: Prosecutors say Williams falsely claimed someone had called him on Oct. 3 and threatened to bomb City Hall, setting off a search that yielded no suspicious devices.
