Police arrested a man after he 'tried to make off' on a stolen motorbike in Coventry. He was detained on Grafton Street in Stoke. Officers were patrolling Grafton Street when they noticed a person behaving 'suspiciously' at around 5pm on Friday (August 30). As they approached the man, he attempted to flee but was quickly detained. Checks revealed that the bike the 20-year-old was riding had been stolen from Castle Vale in Birmingham.

Police are appealing for information about the mysterious disappearance of a Coventry man who left his city home and was 'never seen again.' John Donohue vanished without a trace just weeks before Christmas in 1993. John walked out of the home he shared with his wife in Coundon on December 8, 1993, and there has been 'no trace of him since.' He was just 51 at the time, West Midlands Police said.

Tributes have been paid to a much-loved couple who tragically died after being struck by an Audi. Coventry Reverend Steve Burch and his wife Kathy were killed while walking along Beaumaris Pier in North Wales. Steve and Kathy, from Alcester in Warwickshire, had been taking a walk on the Isle of Anglesey when the tragedy unfolded on Wednesday (August 28). An 81-year-old man, the driver of a grey Audi A8, also died at the scene, North Wales Police said.

A Coventry man who served during World War II said he hopes to receive hundreds of cards to make his 100th birthday 'special.' Ralph Plummer will be hitting the huge milestone on Sunday (September 1). Ralph, who lives at Willowbrook in Canley, was born and raised in Coventry and spent many happy years on Francis Street in Foleshill. He served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) from the age of 17.

A teenage boy has been charged with carrying a knife in Coventry. He appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (August 28). Officers responded to reports of a person brandishing a weapon in the city centre on Tuesday (August 27). A 15-year-old boy was arrested after he was found in possession of a knife, Coventry Police said. He has since been charged with possession of a knife and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour, Coventry Police said.
