Police arrested a man after he 'tried to make off' on a stolen motorbike in Coventry. He was detained on Grafton Street in Stoke. Officers were patrolling Grafton Street when they noticed a person behaving 'suspiciously' at around 5pm on Friday (August 30). As they approached the man, he attempted to flee but was quickly detained. Checks revealed that the bike the 20-year-old was riding had been stolen from Castle Vale in Birmingham.

Police are appealing for information about the mysterious disappearance of a Coventry man who left his city home and was 'never seen again.' John Donohue vanished without a trace just weeks before Christmas in 1993. John walked out of the home he shared with his wife in Coundon on December 8, 1993, and there has been 'no trace of him since.' He was just 51 at the time, West Midlands Police said.

Tributes have been paid to a much-loved couple who tragically died after being struck by an Audi. Coventry Reverend Steve Burch and his wife Kathy were killed while walking along Beaumaris Pier in North Wales. Steve and Kathy, from Alcester in Warwickshire, had been taking a walk on the Isle of Anglesey when the tragedy unfolded on Wednesday (August 28). An 81-year-old man, the driver of a grey Audi A8, also died at the scene, North Wales Police said.

A Coventry man who served during World War II said he hopes to receive hundreds of cards to make his 100th birthday 'special.' Ralph Plummer will be hitting the huge milestone on Sunday (September 1). Ralph, who lives at Willowbrook in Canley, was born and raised in Coventry and spent many happy years on Francis Street in Foleshill. He served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) from the age of 17.

A teenage boy has been charged with carrying a knife in Coventry. He appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (August 28). Officers responded to reports of a person brandishing a weapon in the city centre on Tuesday (August 27). A 15-year-old boy was arrested after he was found in possession of a knife, Coventry Police said. He has since been charged with possession of a knife and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour, Coventry Police said.

A new venue with 'out of this world' games will soon be opening in Coventry. Star Pins will be coming to West Orchards Shopping Centre. Bosses say the 32,000 sqft. site will host a variety of family-friendly games, including bowling, ping pong, mini-golf, darts, ice-free curling and shuffleboard. It will also have a shooting pod and a huge arcade for people to enjoy, with the new city-centre-based venue set to open in December.

A man in his 70s is fighting for his life after reportedly crashing into a tree in Rugby. He is believed to have suffered a medical episode while driving along Dunchurch Road this morning (Friday, August 30). Paramedics were called to the scene of the incident at around 7.50am. Police and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) also attended. Medics found that a man was in a critical condition after suffering a medical episode behind the wheel of his Ford.

Travellers have set up camp on land next to a housing estate in Coventry. Caravans have been seen parked next to Dogberry Close in Willenhall. It is believed the group arrived yesterday evening (Thursday, August 29). Vehicles have pitched up on a field near Dogberry Close. Coventry City Council said that it was 'aware' of the illegal encampment next to Dogberry Close. Officers will be visiting the site today (Friday, August 30).

A man has been jailed after breaking into a Coventry shop and 'stealing the till.' Martin Baker was sentenced at Coventry Magistrates' Court. Baker, 36, smashed the window of a shop to gain entry before stealing the till, West Midlands Police said. He was arrested in the city centre a short time later and charged with burglary as well as breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). He was jailed at Coventry Magistrates' Court on Friday, August 23.

CCTV captured the terrifying moment a balaclava-clad man aimed a gun at two shopworkers in Nuneaton. It happened in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, August 29). At around 12.05am, a man wearing a grey tracksuit and a balaclava entered a newsagent on Lutterworth Road. He has been described as 5ft 5in tall with a slim build. He brandished what appeared to be a black handgun and demanded that two staff members give him money, Warwickshire Police said.
