    Hundreds gathered to enjoy the sunshine at Symington's Recreation Ground, with live music and entertainment throughout the day. And the float parade through the town brought more colour to our streets, suiting this year's carnival theme of 'Summer of Love'. Hundreds of runners also battled the heat in the 10km Carnival Run through the town. The Market Harborough Carnival Committee said the day was a great success and thanked everyone who helped.

    Two women from the Harborough district have been honoured in this year's King’s Birthday Honours list for their roles in education. The honours list was announced on Friday night - and Dr Stefanie Edwards and Verity Hancock both made Officers of the Order of the British Empire. Dr Edwards, from Market Harborough, was given her honour for services to education, during her role as chief executive officer for the Learn Academies Trust.

Chairman of Harborough District Council Cllr Peter James was joined by members of local pétanque groups and the president of Central Pétanque Association, on behalf of Pétanque England, on Thursday May 29 when he declared the new pétanque piste in Welland Park open.
