Despite a stolen base, fumbled ball and loaded bases, Hawthorne (5-8) ended the inning after a grounder to first turned to an out at home.

The four seed Raiders (7-8) will play at top seed Oak Hall (11-4) at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. Defense Coming in HotFirst to bat, the Sharks (1-8) couldn’t find any gaps in the Wolves’ defense. Cecil Collins and Micah DeHaven made contact with the ball, but the Wolves immediately reacted with back-to-back outs. Eladio Lamberson walked and then stole second, but it was not enough as Saint Francis winning pitcher McCabe Long struck out the next batter.

And it stayed that way until the Tornadoes pulled out a 16-12 win. In tight competition, the first inning ended in a 4-4 tie as both teams loaded the bases multiple times.

The Bobcats scored five more goals in less than five minutes.
