Jumping Ahead EarlyAfter holding the Rams (2-12) scoreless in the top of the first, Gainesville’s Broc Tucker and Zachary Kazlauskas hit back-to-back singles in the bottom half to apply pressure early. Their efforts paid off when a fielder’s choice RBI by Connor Kemph, followed by a wild throw on a stolen-base attempt, plated both runners to put Gainesville up 2-0.

The Sante Fe College Saints men’s basketball team closed its season at home Monday with an 83-74 loss against No. 23 Indian River State College. Back-and-Forth EarlyDespite Indian River entering the game on a seven-game winning streak, Santa Fe (2-14 conference, 10-20) brought the game to the Pioneers (11-5, 25-5) early. The Saints freshman guard Karmello Branch scored the first seven points for much-needed momentum against the tougher opponent.

Catcher Cory Filley took advantage of the bases-loaded situation, sneaking a ball into no man’s land to plate Grant Gallagher and put the Saints in front.
