Kayla Harrison was on hand at the 2025 UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Thursday night in Las Vegas – perhaps a fitting appearance, given she’s about to fight a Hall of Famer. Harrison, the newly crowned UFC women’s bantamweight champion, is set to face women’s GOAT Amanda Nunes at some point in the future.

Christopher Ewert’s UFC career is over before it even got started. On Friday, Ewert was reportedly a solid 10 pounds heavy for his short-notice fight with Jackson McVey, though he did not officially weigh in. Instead, it was announced during the official weigh-ins that the fight was off – and that Ewert had been released by the promotion.

Following a loss on the Contender Series, and having dropped his LFA lightweight title, JaCobi Jones finds himself on the rebound, having earned his second straight victory at Friday’s LFA 211 in Salamanca, New York. The back-to-back setbacks he suffered, first on DWCS then in a title fight with Kegan Gennrich roughly a year and a half ago, are something Jones has found a silver lining in. “They definitely put me in the position that I needed to be in.

One of the hottest flyweight prospects for the past couple of years, Phumi Nkuta improved to 10-0 on Friday at LFA 211. Now, he’s almost certainly knocking on the door of the UFC. Whether it’s via the Contender Series or straight to the big show, Nkuta almost certainly has a future with the world’s largest mixed martial arts promotion. And to hear him tell it, his fight with Cody Davis at LFA 211 was already UFC-level anyway. Nor is he surprised at being 10-0 to start his career.

Maybe it was a bad sign when the entirety of the preliminary card went to decisions, but UFC Baku on Saturday certainly didn’t have much finishing power. Just two fights on the 12-fight card ended inside the distance, taking the wind out of the sails in what was the UFC’s debut in Azerbaijan. Still, two finishes seemed like they would be a lock for Performance of the Night bonuses. Nazim Sadykhov knocked out Nikolas Motta, after all, and Myktybek Orolbai submitted Azerbaijan’s own Tofiq Musayev.
