Although international guidelines exist for food allergy management, the role of the allergist in the decision-making process is key. OBJECTIVE: Our aim was to investigate the management patterns and educational needs of practicing allergists treating patients with food allergies.

Jay A. Lieberman, MD I dont think the findings are very surprising. As the authors pointed out, suicide has been associated with various chronic diseases, and prior studies have suggested this association already. While the risk was significant, it was not that much higher than the control population overall. In addition, their findings that it was most associated with psychiatric comorbidities, such as schizophrenia and depression, make it not too surprising.

Jay A. Lieberman, MD I do not think these findings are too surprising or significant. I think the idea of measuring lung function as early as 3 months and association of asthma later in life (3 years) may not be too surprising. Another group showed very similar results in a previous publication. In addition, as the authors point out, similar findings for other parts of this study have largely been reported before.
