Bas Oskam, age 96, of Dahlonega, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at home. He was surrounded by his family having succumbed to cancer. Bas was born on September 16, 1928 in Hilversum, The Netherlands to T.W. Oskam and Anna Kapp Oskam. He was educated in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and was married on June 30, 1955 to Eva E. Castor of Oberwesel, Germany. They moved the same year to the UnitedStates, later becoming naturalized citizens.

He was very active and played basketball and baseball in school. His love for sports continued into adulthood, where Jerry served as a little league coach and president for many years.

3/23/2025Cleveland – Several Tallulah Falls students won awards at TomeCon 2025 on March 18. This event is put on by the Tome Society, a nonprofit Literacy organization located in Georgia. The day of TomeCon includes reading, writing, technology, engineering, art and music. Students had the option to attend seminars of their choice of authors, create bookmarks and book art, purchase books, and attend the author’s book signings.
