The Longstreet Society board of directors invites everyone to a special event at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, at the James Longstreet Museum at the Piedmont Hotel, 827 Maple Street near downtown Gainesville. Historian and author Ed Lowe will give a presentation on his highly regarded recent book about General James Longstreet’s 1863-4 East Tennessee campaign. 2/22/25Sports – The Lady Warriors took on the Baldwin Bravettes Saturday afternoon in the Sweet 16 round of GHSA State Playoff Action. The Lady Warriors were on the defensive against Baldwin early in the first period, knocking down shots back to back but the larger size of the Bravettes would prove difficult and the quarter would end, 18-12, Baldwin. White County took the lead in a huge play by Emma Lightsey halfway through the second period.

Eloise Reed, age 77, of Buford, Georgia formerly of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025. Mrs. Reed was born on August 17, 1947 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late John Lewis and Helen Purdy Vinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony Mark “Tony” Reed. Eloise was employed with Vinson Industrial Products where she served as the Accounting Manager. She was a member of Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church.

Anthony Bruce Charles, age 55 of Toccoa, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025. Born in Demorest on January 29, 1969, Tony was the son of Gary Charles and the late Peggy Jean Wilbanks Bramlett. Tony was self employed and has worked in many facets of the construction industry. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, eating, singing karaoke and going on drives in the mud and snow. More than anything, Tony enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.
