    Cal Poly’s Multicultural Center hosted their annual Culture Fest on Oct. 26. The festival is a time where multicultural clubs and organizations have the opportunity to booth in the University Union to connect with students through food and music. The event is run and operated by Multicultural Center staff and student assistants.

    It’s that time of year again: graduation. As finals week wraps up and graduates and their guests prepare for the big day, there are also set instructions and expectations they must follow. Mustang News has prepared a How-To Commencement guide to clear any confusion. According to the Commencement Office website, ceremonies will be held on June 15 – 16  at Spanos Stadium. They will be broken up by academic colleges and spread throughout the day, with each ceremony lasting about 90 minutes.

    Last week, Cal Poly ASI hosted its 12th annual Mustang Mile 5K Fun Run. The event took place in front of Perimeter Road at the Recreation Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m.The 5k honors the memory of Carson Starkey, a student who lost his life to alcohol poisoning after a fraternity hazing incident in 2008. In celebration of him, most participants dress up in costume during the run.

    Tickets are already sold out for the Cal Poly Theatre & Dance’s Thursday to Sunday shows; the department is putting on a production of “Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play,” at Spanos Theatre this weekend and next. According to the event description, the show’s plot follows a group of survivors after the collapse of civilization.

    From events surrounding education on sustainability and other environmentally conscious habits, Cal Poly Green Campus celebrated its annual Earth Week this year from April 17-26. The events were put on in collaboration with various sustainability clubs and organizations on campus with the goals of educating on environmental, economic and social aspects of sustainability.
