The Saints will welcome back an old friend this season. The 3-4 defense returns to New Orleans for the first time in a while. You remember the 3-4, right? The last time we saw it here was during Rob Ryan’s otherwise forgettable tenure as defensive coordinator from 2014 to 2016. But even then, Ryan only dabbled in the scheme. The Saints haven’t run it full-bore since the 1990s, when the famed Dome Patrol ruled the Superdome under head coach Jim Mora.

Age matters in the NFL. A prevailing ideology has ruled the league for decades: Teams are led by older, experienced coaches and young, dynamic players. It's a tradition that has stood the test of time. In New Orleans, however, a different dynamic is taking place. At 36, Kellen Moore is the youngest head coach in the NFL and the youngest in Saints franchise history. His Saints defense will be led by three thirty-something stars, one of whom, Demario Davis, is roughly the same age.

Derek Carr is retired. Jameis Winston is a New York Giant. And Drew Brees isn’t walking through that door. The New Orleans Saints are going to sink or swim this season with their trio of young quarterbacks. Ready or not, here come Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener. The Dat Pack is not just the most inexperienced and unproven quarterback room in the NFL. It’s the most inexperienced and unproven quarterback room in Saints history.

Mojave King is an immediate candidate for all-time best name in Pelicans history.

NBA draft deal: The Indiana Pacers are trading their No. 23 pick and the rights to Mojave King to the New Orleans Pelicans for Indiana's own 2026 first-round pick back which the Pelicans had previously acquired, sources tell ESPN.

Doing some research this a.m. and came across this: Of the many amazing things @thomasmorstead has accomplished in his 17-year career, the most incredible might be this: In 960 career punts, he's had just one blocked. The Rams' Robert Quinn got it in Week 8 of the 2011 season.

Good news, indeed. Logic and reason finally prevail.

🚨 GOOD NEWS OVERNIGHT..
