SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WLIO) — Changes are taking place at the Shawnee Township Fire Department. Fire Chief Austin Miller was placed on paid administrative leave Friday afternoon by the township’s trustees. When contacted by Your News Now, Trustee Clark Spieles did not provide specific details about the decision, saying only, "Chief Miller was notified and then left."Miller has served as fire chief since Feb. 12, 2024. He succeeded Todd Truesdale, who retired at the end of 2023.

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — It’s official: retail giant Target is coming to Lima. Target Corporation has closed on its purchase of the vacant Macy's site on Elida Road. Target purchased the site for $4.5 million, according to documents filed with the Allen County Recorder’s Office on January 31. The next step in the process is for the Macy's store to be demolished this spring. A brownfield grant was awarded to the Allen County Land Bank to pay for that demolition.

Depending on which historian you want to believe, some say Vance will be Ohio's first-ever vice president. Others say there have been three. Charles Dawe was vice president under Calvin Coolidge, Charles Fairbanks under Theodore Roosevelt, and Thomas Hendricks under Grover Cleveland.

ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A longtime elected official and political party leader in Allen County has died. Bob Holmes died on Saturday after a battle with cancer. Holmes was Allen County Republican Party chairman from 1974 to 1994. He organized five presidential and vice presidential campaign visits to Allen County, including the 1980 Ronald Reagan whistle-stop rally in Lima, rated by the Reagan staff as one of the best in the nation. He also served the GOP at the state level.
