    Yes, it could always be worse. Cardinal fans aren’t happy about the state of things, but they saw what real suffering looks like this week. The Pittsburgh Pirates, the perennial NL Central doormats, rolled into town to hand the Redbirds three victories. The Pirates’ losing streak reached eight games. The Pirates fell to 12-26, their worst start in a 162-game season since 2006. That’s saying something, because the Pirates have lost 90 or more games nine times since 2006.
