I want to open this week's column with an acknowledgement of comments made on my recent columns. Thank you very much for the comments. Going forward with Margaret Ann Scott's history of Athens in the 1984 Mercer County Historical Society's History of Mercer County, we come to the early church in the then-village of Concord. kAm&?E:= `gdg[ 49FC49 D6CG:46D H6C6 4@?5F4E65 :?

It’s been a while since we’ve looked at Athens’ history, so that’s where we’ll go for now. Our source material will be the essay on Athens in the 1984 Mercer County Historical Society’s Mercer County History written by Margaret Ann Scott. From 1858 to 1896, Athens was known as Concord and Concord Church. Before the former date, there was no name for the area which now comprises the town. kAmp44@C5:?8 E@ 62C=J 244@F?ED[ 7:G6 72>:=:6D D6EE=65 :?

In a follow-up tweet to my last post, I'm only sticking around because I'm afraid of ultimate failure.

Escapism is futile. Involvement is impossible. I guess I'll just drift my life away.

I'm looking for people who ran in the Kevin O'sullivan 5-k race who are willing to comment on it for a PT article.
