RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Flash flooding likely, especially in our built-up/urban areas. We have been giving you the First Alert for about a week to the potential for heavy rain on Tuesday. Localized areas of flooding are possible on Tuesday with the Weather Prediction Center of the National Weather Service having Central VA in the slight risk category for flash flooding . For many of us, this will be a standard rainy day, while others could deal with a few road closures due to flooding.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - There is the potential for a few severe storms today in the region. The Storm Prediction Center has all of the 12 On Your Side Viewing area in a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather. We have already seen one severe warned storm move through portions of our area with hail & heavy rain. Storms will be in the region this morning and we expect a break in the middle of the day. As soon as early afternoon into the evening more storms could then fire up in the region.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Central Virginia is looking at the potential for some severe storms tomorrow afternoon & evening. The Storm Prediction Center has most areas east of I-95 in a slight risk or level 2 out of 5 for severe weather. Primary threats associated with these storms could be strong gusty winds and heavy rain. No tornado threat is expected with these storms at the moment. Primary timing for these storms is towards the later afternoon into the evening on Sunday.

Did you feel the earthquake in the region earlier today? It's been confirmed as a Magnitude 2.8 around 1 PM.
It was a mistake to give the championship away to Phoenix in the first place. That track has not had very compelling racing since they reconfigured it and paved the dogleg. Glad to see Homestead for the finale next year & rotating tracks in the years to follow.
