ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - WDBJ7 has learned three staff members at Rivermont Roanoke Southwest School have been accused of physically abusing a student with special needs. The school serves children with emotional disabilities. Court documents obtained by WDBJ7 show Bernard Basham, James Hagins and Christian Chaney were served with warrants Thursday on misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. WDBJ7 spoke with the student’s parent, who wished to remain anonymous.

PULASKI, Va. (WDBJ) - More than a dozen people in the Town of Pulaski have been displaced from their homes after an apartment fire Wednesday afternoon. Multiple agencies responded to the fire at an apartment building in downtown Pulaski on 3rd Street near its intersection with Jefferson Avenue. The Pulaski Fire Department said, fortunately, no people or pets were harmed in the blaze. ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Five World War II veterans from our hometowns are embarking on a three-day trip honoring them for their service. On Tuesday, the group of veterans ranging in age from 96 to 101 flew out of the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport to Charlotte as part of a trip from the Gary Sinise Foundation to take them to its Nashville headquarters and then to New Orleans to the National World War II Museum.
