BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - The Bedford Regional Water Authority (BRWA)celebrated Earth Day on Tuesday by hosting an event showcasing upgrades to its wastewater treatment plant that have major environmental benefits. BRWA partnered with Schneider Electric to upgrade the plant’s equipment and add better technology. It said these upgrades have led to cleaner streams and rivers around the area and major cost-saving benefits thanks to energy efficiency. “Our energy bill is cut by about $200,000 a year.

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - Sunday, 21-year-old Jaelynn Lowen was arrested in Louisiana and will be extradited to Danville. Lowen is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Pinakin Patel in Danville. Last week, Danville Police were able to identify Lowen’s car thanks to its new Flock License Plate Reader (LPR) camera system. The Danville Police Department has installed 21 Flock cameras around the city.

One local organization working to prevent homelessness in our hometowns is now expanding its services thanks to a national partnership.
