Reported first by Jordan Schultz, the Steelers are added another option on Sunday. Former Colts and Ohio State running back Trey Sermon reportedly signed a one-year contract. The 26-year-old was the 49ers third-round pick in 2021 rushing 41 times for 167 yards and a touchdown. He would spent 2022 with the Eagles carrying it two times for 19 yards.

Now it's what else Don Kelly learned from Leyland as he takes over as the Pirates manager. Kelly played for Leyland with the Tigers and he was the kind of that player to Leyland that John Wehner was to Leyland with the Pirates. The do-everything, try-hard, tough-nosed Pittsburgher. It created a bond between Kelly and Leyland.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Offensively it wasn't much different than recent games, however for Don Kelly's first game as Pirates manager, no errors or mental mistakes and excellent starting pitching followed by a little drama in the ninth and a 3-2 win over Atlanta Friday night. Bailey Falter gave up a couple of hard-hit balls, but the Braves managed only a pair of singles as Falter walked a pair and struck out three over six scoreless innings.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - For a chunk of April Enmanuel Valdez was one the Pirates most consistent hitters, now he finds the injured list with left shoulder inflammation. The Bucs now give Ji Hwan Bae yet another opportunity. The centerfielder/second baseman has reached safety in 19 straight games with AAA Indianapolis with 19 runs scored, six doubles and six stolen bases during that span. Overall with Indy this season, Bae is hitting .258 with eight doubles, six RBI, 22 runs scored.
McCutchen says it's about players proving they belong here

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - It's a first for Andrew McCutchen in his 17-year MLB career, losing a manager in-season. He hasn't processed it yet, but does have opinions about what should happen next. It has little to do with Don Kelly taking over as the Pirates manager, rather it's about the players doing what is necessary. McCutchen said the way he approaches it is to just do his job. Worry about what he can control and if he, and others, do that then this won't happen again.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - There was an overlying theme as Steelers general manager Omar Khan met with reporters Friday about the George Pickens trade to Dallas. "A fresh start for both sides was the right thing," Khan said. And he repeated that phrase numerous times. Khan said while the had trade offers for Pickens around the NFL Draft, none of those worked or were enticing at that time.
