PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - There was hope the Pirates found a rotation piece in trading Jose Quintana and Chris Stratton to the Cardinals at the trade deadline in 2022. Johan Oviedo had a 3.23 ERA in seven starts after joining the Pirates. Now he's taking another step in returning from Tommy John surgery. Oviedo threw a bullpen session in Bradenton on Tuesday and felt good after. Later this week he is scheduled to move forward and throw a live batting practice.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - To Beanie Bishop the whole situation is very easy to explain, it's a rivalry. That's what people do in a rivalry when they don't like each other. PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Steelers adding some safety depth on Wednesday signing free agent Quindell Johnson. The 6'2", 208-pounder was on the Rams practice squad last year, signed and then released by the 49ers practice this year after a rookie season with Chicago. Johnson had an interception in 2023 off Blaine Gabbert while playing in nine games with Chicago. He also finished with three tackles and a pass defensed in 35 defensive snaps.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - It's one thing to come back from one devastating knee injury, but Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb is back and full go at practice after a second substantial knee injury in November of 2023. Holcomb missed the last nine games of 2023 and all of 2024. The 28-year-old did return to practices at the end of last year, but said it was for the best that he didn't attempt to play in a game even though he thought he would be able to go.
