Last week, I tried to date this post “2014” — I WISH!! — and today, I tried to date it “225.” I guess I’m glad it’s not the year 225, if only for modern medicine and, like, TV. ANYWAY, here we are, still in 2025. How’s your existential crisis? At Drinks With Broads this week: we continued our Severance recaps with Miss Cobel getting up to some weird shit in Salt’s Neck, and our stay at the White Lotus took a little aquatic detour.

When I crossed the finish line this morning — 1 hour, 34 minutes, 25 seconds after hitting “outdoor run” on my Apple watch and moving forward with a few hundred other 10K, 5K and 1-mile snowshoe runners and walkers — there was little fanfare. Some music was pumping, and a few race volunteers stood nearby. One spectator did shout encouragingly in my direction, as I crested the slight hill into the finish chute: “You’re looking strong!” That was nice to hear.

We had anticipated the cold. We brought multiple clothing layers and extra blankets, packed our winter hats and coats, even bought a two-person sleeping bag a few weeks before our trip to use with our air mattress. And yet we shivered throughout the nights in our tent. (The new sleeping bag was more spacious than I expected and did ensure we weren’t completely freezing).
