We see her every week in our Jet Pet segments, highlighting shelter animals and usually making us laugh. Unfortunately, she’s also brought us heartbreaking stories of animal abuse and neglect. Thompsom started the Association for Needy and Neglected Animals, or the ANNA Shelter, in June 2004.

Multiple fire departments responded to a massive blaze Wednesday night in Waterford Township that gutted a barn and killed a family pet. Firefighters were up against massive flames when they arrived on the scene around 6:30 p.m.Thick black smoke and bright orange flames were shooting out of the front and back of the barn in the 500 block of Old State Road. The fast-moving fire spread to a connected house and a nearby field.

As you know, St. Patrick’s Day is a very popular holiday for enjoying alcoholic beverages and that’s why local police departments beefed up their patrols for the night. We spoke with patrolman Katrina Kuhl from the Millcreek Township Police Department on Monday evening. She said they had extra patrols out Monday night looking for intoxicated drivers.
