Spencer Davis is alive because there was an AED on his field in Hollidaysburg, about 2 hours east of Pittsburgh. He plays football for Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School.

PITTSBURGH — At least 100 firefighters from the City of Pittsburgh have lost their lives in the line of duty over the course of the department’s history, including one recently. Now, there’s a memorial being built to honor and educate. When Channel 11′s Jennifer Tomazic sat down with the firefighters for this story, she had no idea what was to come later that day. After no line of duty deaths for 20 years, that night Pittsburgh firefighter and Battalion Chief John Walsh died.

PITTSBURGH — The holiday rush is on. USPS customer relations coordinator Christian Johnston says this years been a busy one with the election season. Now, it’s full force into the holidays. “Peak holiday mailing season does start pretty early,” Johnston said. First things first: picking out the right box. “You wanna make sure that it fits inside the box. Then you’ll use that packing material to protect around it,” Johnston said.

PITTSBURGH — Pennsylvania has one of the highest numbers of veterans in the nation, and as they age, it’s hard to find and afford home health care. One Pittsburgh-area organization has a solution that helps our aging veterans and their families to remain in their homes. Betty Horning, 93, is still in the home where she raised her family. She’s still telling stories about her late husband Ernest’s army service. “They selected him to be the driver of the officials,” Horning said.
