NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls softball team shut out Hopatcong 14-0 on Monday, May 12 when they played them away, and then played away against Kittatinny on Tuesday, May 13 and won 7-4 to take home the NJAC Colonial Division title. This achievement is only the “second softball title in the last 40 years for Newton,” according to head coach Paul Filan. Bella Deleon went 2-for-4 at bat against Kittatinny, with two singles and two runs.

NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls softball team shut out Wallkill Valley 4-0, when they hosted them on Wednesday, May 7, but then lost 4-3 when they played away against Lenape Valley on Thursday, May 8. Isabella Rubino went 2-for-4 at the plate against Wallkill Valley, with two singles and two RBIs. Brielle Roberts scored one of Newton’s runs, along with Jordyn Young, who went 0-for-2. Mackenzie Greenhalgh and Emma Trout each went 1-for-2 at bat with a single.

NEWTON, NJ – There is a new place in town to get a good cookie. On Saturday, May 3 Davis Cookie Co. just opened the Cookie Café at 187 Main Street. Members of the Newton Town Council Mayor Helen LeFrois and Councilwomen Sandra Diglio and Michelle Teets were on hand to help with the ribbon cutting ceremony.

SPARTA, NJ – The boys volleyball team only needed two matches to beat Chatham on Wednesday.They won 25-14 and 25-19. Geroge Tsamadias had seven service points, 28 assists, three aces and a kill. Aiden Foy, Diandre Carr and Owen Englehardt each had six service points. Carr had nine kills, two blocks and an ace. Foy had a kill. Englehardt had four kills. Joshua Tolentino had three service points with four kills.Jason Fisher had two service points.

NEWTON, NJ – The Newton High School boys golf team competed in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Group 1 state sectionals match on Monday, May 5, as the 13-seeded team and came out in ninth place out of 25 teams with a score of 347.
