NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys lacrosse team lost 16-3 when they played away against top-seeded Mountain Lakes in the quarterfinal round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Group 1 tournament on Monday, June 2. Newton started the tournament as the eighth seed team and beat nine-seed Pequannock to move into the quarterfinal round. Mountain Lakes took the lead early on in the first quarter when they scored six goals to Newton’s two.

NEWTON, NJ—The Newton Police Department Detective Bureau arrested Jesse Baron, the owner of Hippy Daze Headshop, after working with the Sussex County Guns, Gangs, and Narcotics Task Force on a “comprehensive investigation,” police said. Baron, whose shop is located at 248 Spring Street, was arrested following a three-month investigation into the illegal sale of psilocybin mushrooms and related criminal activity, police said.
