    If you blinked, you may have missed four peregrine falcon chicks hatch at the downtown Hamilton Sheraton Hotel this weekend. Hatchlings emerged from all four eggs in a little over 12 hours. At 3 a.m. Saturday, falcon watchers spotted the first evidence of a newly hatched chick on Hamilton Community Peregrine Project’s livestream.     Hamilton’s sunny and warm weather is being blown away by a cold front. Gusty winds roared in overnight, tossing loose objects and election campaign signs. Environment Canada issued a wind warning at 3:30 p.m., informing residents of the “very strong” winds gusting at 90 kilometres per hour. Those winds are blowing into the region ahead of the low-pressure system from northwestern Ontario, said Environment Canada meteorologist Barbara Lapido.

    Hamilton’s sunny and warm Monday is being blown away by a cold front. Gusty winds roared in overnight, tossing loose objects and losing election campaign signs. Those winds are expected to get worse in the region as the low pressure system blows in from northwestern Ontario, says Environment Canada meteorologist Barbara Lapido. The national weather agency is calling for a potentially rainy afternoon and evening with a risk of thunderstorms. But the wind is the worst risk, Lapido says.

    What’s left of the snow is going to melt away with warm temperatures and rainfall coming. Environment Canada has issued a rainfall advisory, warning of 10 to 20 millimetres of rain Tuesday night and Wednesday. Isolated thunderstorms Wednesday could be the icing on the cake. All that water with nowhere to go “may lead to localized flooding in low lying areas and water pooling on roads,” the weather statement says.
