Like any race car driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. went for the win every time he took the green flag to start a race. He succeeded 26 times in his 631 starts in the Cup Series in his NASCAR Hall of Fame career. Sure, there were races that got away from him or others that left him upset that he felt he should have won. But there’s one race in particular that Junior started off behind the 8-ball and almost wound up winning the race.

Tyler Reddick knows Denny Hamlin is one of his two bosses, along with NBA legend Michael Jordan. But that’s off-track. On track, it’s a different story. When they’re racing each other, Hamlin and Reddick are pedal-to-the-metal competitors, not boss-employee or even friends. They are both racing for the same prize – a win – and if they have conflict, that’s the nature of the business.

After being asked countless times, it may finally be time for Dale Earnhardt Jr. and JR Motorsports to take the next step in its evolution: moving to the NASCAR Cup Series. With one-quarter of the NASCAR Cup season in the books, there’s still plenty of races to be won in the 27 remaining events (17 left in the regular season and 10 in the playoffs). But when it comes to just which drivers will win at least one of those races, NASCAR analyst Kyle Petty made two key predictions on this week’s edition of Performance Racing Network’s Fast Talk show. Prediction No. 1: Bubba Wallace will not win a race this year.

To borrow a line from an old saying, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” That pretty much describes Michael Waltrip’s career as a NASCAR team owner. After surviving and bouncing back from a scandal in the 2007 Daytona 500, when an illegal substance was found in the manifold of Waltrip’s Toyota, his team — Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR) — went on to win several races over the next six years.

#JayBlake, the only blind crew chief and team owner in motorsports, will soon have the biggest dream of his life come true, as he purchases a nitro Funny Car this month and will start competing on the @NHRA next year. Read my piece for @competitionplus https://t.co/bmDlLoV9HC

According to @nytimes, @ValKilmer has passed at the far too young age of 65. He was so good in both Top Gun movies, Heat, as Jim Morrison in the Doors movie, Thunderheart and many more. Thanks @TomCruise for having Val in Top Gun Maverick. RIP Val!
