With Sunday’s NASCAR race at Kansas Speedway now in the rearview mirror, the attention of many — not just in NASCAR, but motorsports fans of all types — will shift over the next two weeks to Kyle Larson’s second bid at “The Double.”Of course, “The Double” is that mind-boggling feat where a driver races in the Indianapolis 500 in the morning and early afternoon, then hops on a plane to Charlotte to compete in the Coca-Cola 600 that same evening in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Sunday’s win at Kansas Speedway further cemented Kyle Larson as the most dominant driver in the first third of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series. Through 12 races, Larson — who replaced Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron at the top of the regular season standings — now has three wins, eight top-fives, and nine top-10 finishes. Only Christopher Bell has as many wins, but he’s in third place, 85 points off the lead.

NASCAR is not just about winning. It’s also about people. Whether it’s drivers, team members or fans, everybody is special. Three-time and defending NASCAR Cup champion Joey Logano’s No. 22 Ford Mustang honored one very special person in Sunday’s race at Kansas Speedway. Logano paid tribute to a seven-year-old young man — known simply as “Liam” — who passed away just two hours after Logano had won last week’s race in Texas.

Chase Briscoe loves NASCAR, but like several other Cup regulars such as Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell, his motor really gets going when he’s doing extracurricular activity in sprint cars. Briscoe, who finished fourth in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup race at Kansas Speedway, says driving a stock car “feels like slow motion” compared to a sprint car.

ICYMI

Man, I’m sad right now. Steve “Mongo” McMichael just passed away at the age of 67 after a heroic battle with ALS. Great guy, great player and a great swagger. I covered him thru his career. Glad he saw his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. So deserving. RIP Mongo!!
