She and other Nacogdoches residents have watched the office sit largely vacant for years, used - by her estimate - once a month. As time dragged on with no word on aid, Tarver and her husband, Ty'Kiedren, a police officer, discussed who would quit their job to stay at home with their son, Hudson.
