SILVER CITY, N.M. (KRQE) – Monday marks one year since Xaqueline Bynum was found dead in Silver City as the child abuse cases against her parents move forward. She died one day after her fifth birthday. On March 10, 2024, Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of a child who was unresponsive. Deputies found parents, 34-year-old Music Adame and 39-year-old Mathew Bynum, asleep on the floor, along with their 7-year-old son. They were all completely out of it.

(KRQE) – The New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department said they have placed two workers on administrative leave after KRQE News 13 uncovered they were both former Albuquerque police officers connected to the federal DWI investigation. Harvey Johnson and Nelson Ortiz resigned from APD last year giving up their badges rather than be interviewed by Internal Affairs.
