FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Asian American studies is expanding at Fresno State. For years, Fresno State has had a minor and certificates in Asian American Studies. Associate Professor Jenny Banh, says despite the local Asian population, that was the highest level of education any student could receive in the Central Valley. "We have a 12-16% Asian population and we've never had the major," Banh said.

They're preparing for the fall semester when they'll help run their high school social media pages. It may be summer, but class is back in session in the Porterville Unified School District. Juniors and seniors from the district's six high schools have gathered to prepare for a new responsibility next school year.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Following the pomp and circumstance of graduation, many students will hit the books for summer school in June, but in July they can take part in new experiences. "We want all of our Fresno Unified kiddos to go to summer school and then they finish up their summer with a big bang -- with the summer camps," FUSD Director of Expanded Learning Connie Cha said. Cha says the camps are coming back bigger and better than ever.

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A group project centered around death and dying is launching Fresno County students onto the national stage. Rehearsals are underway again as these students prepare to take part in a nationwide competition. The group is made up of sophomore Piper Allen, juniors Mason Pitcher, Selena Wall and Daniel Green as well as senior Kyle Mrkaich.
