IntroductionIn traditional network architectures, network functions like firewalls, load balancers, intrusion detection systems, and content delivery servers are typically implemented in dedicated physical appliances. Each network function operates independently, leading to complex and inflexible network deployments that hinder the introduction of new services and the scaling of existing ones.
