It's a party weekend. Again. La Semana Alegre, the Fiesta music festival that was revived last year, is returning May 1 and 2 to Civic Park at Hemisfair, and this time it's going to be free. Susan Thompson, president and executive director of the Hemisfair Conservancy, called the festival "our gift to the city" in a statement released Thursday. La Semana Alegre, which began in the early '70s, returned last year under new leadership after an absence of almost three decades.

Midwestern rockers Chevelle will kick off their summer tour Aug. 7 with a concert at the Boeing Center at Tech Port. The San Antonio tour launch follows a couple of Texas festival dates for the band: BuzzFest on May 24 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in the Woodlands with Marilyn Manson, Blue October and more; and KEGL's BFD, another radio station-sponsored event with a similar lineup, on May 25 at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas.

March“Michael Tracy: The Elegy of Distance”: Artist Michael Tracy, who died in July at his home in the border town of San Ygnacio, had his first big museum exhibit in 1971 at the McNay. His bold, often controversial work, which touched on borders, violence, Catholic iconography, Mexican culture and the environment, would find a national audience in later years. In a full-circle turn, Tracy chose many of the works for this two-decade survey before his death.
