WENTWORTH - Last week four Rockingham County seniors - Zoey Snead, Lily Strittmatter, Kimberly Kirby and Cole Behe - shared the stage as each student-athlete signed their National Letters of Intent to continue playing at the next level following their high school graduation in June. Snead signed to play softball at Ferrum College. She has proven to be an offensive powerhouse for the Lady Cougars which is evident in her .471 batting average.

WENTWORTH - The Rockingham County softball team continued to roll as they posted their 17th shutout of the 2025 season with a 9-0 win over Ledford in the second round of the 2025 NCHSAA 3A state playoffs. A breakout second inning, where the Lady Cougars drove in five runs including a grand slam home run by senior Lily Strittmatter to take the early lead and set the tone for the game.

WENTWORTH - After surviving a 10-inning thriller in the Cougars' 6-5 victory over Kings Mountain on Tuesday, No. 4 seed Rockingham had another nail-biter in the second round of the NCHSAA 3A playoffs. But this time, Rockingham couldn't find the same magic as East Lincoln (20-6) clinched a 6-5 win Friday night, bringing the Cougars' postseason season to an end.
